Lucky me

Sat Oct 21, 2006, 9:13 AM
Just when I really start rocking lucky me is breaking his leg!
That was about 3 weeks ago. Great! Just a day before I started into my new job.
And no it didn't happen while doing sports or something - I was on a party and dead drunk. But it was a good party. I met a girl there... nice party.
I even walked (barely) with that broken leg (close to the ankle) before going to hospital. Got me an operation and some screws or something for a few months. Now all movement is to and back from my workplace.
The job is cool though. I'm an editor/news-writer and doing all kind of things besides. And the people are all astonishingly friendly...

brain's cooking

Tue Sep 5, 2006, 3:12 AM
Whoaa I'm really busy right now. I'm learning PHP and dive deeper into the flash/actionscript thing(I finished a db web app) but decided to ditch PHP for a more powerful and elegant scripting language(I'm checking out Perl, Ruby and Python right now). All this stuff is really stimulating parts of my brain that hadn't much to do for a long time. To the point that my brain feels cooked!
Other than the coding stuff I'm doing some intensive writing practise for my new job(writing news and stuff) and painting/drawing for my art study(and combining it all with conceptual exercises - that's cool!). Oh yeah and pixel pushing aint dead of course - working on a piece right now.
So huh - I feel feverishly sometimes - and am actually hotter(you know what I mean) frome time to time. It's like in bladerunner - the "bad guy" you know!

Back in the painting thing

Yeah I'm pretty much back into painting.I'm very "productive" right now.
Not that I'm doing my other things like pixelling photoshooting any less but I'm just painting more...

pixel gallery>
brrr I know why I avoid to browse through the pixel art gallery here. Just did it today and... god how can people be that stupid?
Poor guys like halfliquid

I absolutely love this movie.

It becomes warmer now. Very slowly (which is good because my heating is off).

Oh and my website is coming along very well.

I think that's it for now...

new tools 'n stuff

> digital slr
Ok I did it. I bought myself a digital slr. The nikon d50 if you care to know. Cheapest solution for me(not only was the body realtively cheap(for a digital slr) but I do have some nice f-mount lenses. So far I'm very happy about it and all excited about photography generally! I learn way faster on a digital. I don't have to wait for the film to be developed and I can waste as much shots as I want. So I'm very enthusiastic about all thid photo stuff. Sometimes when I talk with someone about it I become all breathless like a little kid (and then I did this and then and THEN[...]). Still I somewhat miss the analog look of the photos. Yes I took quite a few photos on film a few years ago and also worked in the darkroom.
The d50 is nice and feels nice to the touch. Also it's no huge beast and that is very important to me(I'm no studio guy). Still If I become rich I'll try to get a rangefinder - if I'm really on the sunny side maybe even a Leica... hope there will be still film around then...
You might've noticed that I have "swamped" my gallery here with photos - I'll filter it out when I have some spare time...
> don't buy
don't buy a point and shoot digital. Go film then. A cheap camera looks way better if it's film(won't talk about not so cheap cameras. There's enough talk about that all over the net). Small sensor chips suck!
> pixel art
No I haven't lost interest in pixel art. Actually I'm working on a piece right now but there's a painting I have to finish first...

tablet

I bought me a wacom tablet... yeah! Not a big one I don't have the money for those but I guess I don't need them either. So far I'm really happy with it and looking forward to experiment.
